I will be posting a lot of my travel agency work experience here in the blog, so first let me introduce to you guys what is ISX Travel and Tours. ISX means International Student Exchange it is Canada's international student tour operator. They are a travel agency that caters to the international students here in Canada who want to travel and experience the local tourism. They operate tours and trips that are reachable with a bus, their trips vary and change every month depends on the demand and the season of trips that they will offer. For example for February, they have a theme of "WinterFest Trips" which means that the trips they offer are about winter experience. For February, they have trips to New York, Chicago, Montreal, Niagara Falls, Blue Mountain, and Snow Valley. The Blue Mountain, Snow Valley, and Niagara Falls have trips almost every weekend because it is only a day trip and a lot of international students want to experience trying to ski and snowboarding. The ISX Canada also offers pants rentals for skiing/snowboarding for people who will go to Blue Mountain and Snow Valley, all the students need to do is to go to the office and try on the pants and rent them for $15-$25 cad dollars. The students need to personally go to the office to try on the ski pants rentals so that they are sure about the size, and also it is in the office where the students will pay for the pants. Students that are renting also have to sign a form for the rentals, which includes their contact information and their credit card number, because if they did not return the pants on the time given the company will charge their credit card for the pants. It is just assurance for the company and also if the students lost the pants. But if the students will be late on returning the pants they can always email or call the office so that the office knows to not charge the students, just to make sure that the students will return the pants.
The tours that the ISX offers for New York, Chicago and "French Canada" (which is a Montreal and Quebec trips) are usually 4 days and 3 nights or 3 days and 2 days, the tours already include the bus, accommodation or hotel, and breakfast in the hotel. The tourist spot that they will visit the payment/entrance fee, are already included on the tour price. The trip does not include/cover all the tourist spots of a city or place, but the itinerary always goes to the famous places of that city. Plus the students have an option if they want to go to a certain place. For example, the New York city tours 4 days and 3 nights trip include visiting Times Square, Brooklyn Bridge, Soho, Wall Street, Greenwich Village, shopping in outlet malls, and free time to visit museums. On top of this tourist spots that are already included in the itinerary, the students have an option to visit Top of The Rock, Circle Line Boat Cruise (which goes to the Statue of Liberty), and Madame Tussauds. But these options tours the costumers can only access when in they are on the day of the tour so the students are advised to bring cash with them because the day of the trip is the only day they can pay for these optional.
ISX believes that "travel should be fun, engaging, always enriching, and ultimately inspiring" that is from their website. ISX is operating in North America since 2000 they helped so many international students to feel welcome and at home in Canada. To also help them to travel with confidence and experience the culture of locals and the culture of other states. ISX main goal is for the international students to feel welcome and experience the local tourism, to experience the real Canadian spirit while they are here in the country. Because most of these international students that we book for trips are only here in Canada for 2-4 weeks to study English speaking skills. So most of the time we ask these students if when they are leaving the country when booking their trip and we try to accommodate the students who are leaving the country sooner.
ISX Travel and Tours are also home for many intern students, it helps a lot of students who are looking for a placement workplace. The travel agency gives a lot of opportunities for students who are looking for an internship I learned that by just 2-3 days of going to the office and meeting so many intern students. That is why I am grateful for this opportunity to start my new journey here.
